Take a step into the past!

North Creek Depot MuseumThe North Creek Depot Museum

North Creek Railway Depot Museum will be open for 2025.
Listed on the State and National Registrar, the North Creek Railroad Station Complex is located in the Hamlet of North Creek in the Town of Johnsburg, Warren County, New York. It is in the southeast portion of the Adirondack Forest Preserve with more or less rural lands to the south and east. The railroad line hugs the western shore of the Hudson River, traversing North Creek on its way to Tahawus. The station complex is at the northern end of the hamlet on the West Bank of the Hudson.  The complex also includes the restored freight house and engine house that are currently occupied by the Railroad, a sand tower, and a ninety-foot turntable.

Take a step into the past as you enter North Creek’s restored 1871 Adirondack/D&H Railroad Depot.  Saved from the brink of demolition, the North Creek Railroad Station now serves as a Museum (with a fabulous diorama), Heritage Center, as well as a cultural and economic hub in Historic North Creek.
Hours:  North Creek Railway Depot Museum will be open in 2025.  25th Birthday Celebration Sat. July 12, 1-4PM

Ski Bowl Park - 4 Seasons of Recreation!

Ski Bowl Park, Visit North Creek North Creek's Ski Bowl Park is the site of the original Skiing Slopes from the 1930's, and one of the earliest ski tows in the country.  Often called "Little Gore" (it operated as a ski area into the 1970's), today it is run as part of the larger Gore Mt. Ski Center with the Village Slope, 46er Chairlift, and Cross Country Ski Trails.  Additionally in the warm seasons - a network of mountain bike and hiking trails wind through the woods and slopes.  Ski Bowl Park also has tennis courts, baseball fields, a playground, and event space with a large covered pavilion and the Joe Minder Lodge.  The Ski Bowl is also the terminus of backcountry ski trails originating from Barton Mines Road.  Beach is currently Closed

Garnet Mine Tours - The hardest garnet in the world is only found on Gore Mountain, making the garnet extremely rare. The Barton garnet has an unusual and beautiful ruby red color that flashes in the sun. In 1969, the Governor of New York, Nelson Rockefeller, made the Barton garnet the New York State Gem Stone.

The Gore Mountain Gem and Mineral Shop will be opening up on July 1, 2025 with many new surprises.  We are going to have a working rock shop with rock saws and tumblers and demonstrations.  The shop is stocked with some unusual rocks from all over the world.  It is a rock enthusiast dream.  From tumbled stones to high end jewelry.  We aim to please.  Tours of the mine run at 10:30AM, 12:30PM and 3:00PM

We start the tour at the Gore Mountain Mineral Shop. In your own car you follow a tour guide to the site of the Garnet Mines.
