Pond – a great hiking destination – More Hiking Info Here.  This is the weather and time for great August Vacations in North Creek.  So, if your getaway is just one or two days or a full week vacation – we’ve got you covered with great events, live music, fun and exciting activities and attractions, and the beauty of the Adirondack Mountains!  Don’t Forget – Farmer’s Market on Thursday and Kids Art at the Farmers Market.  Music By The River is on for Saturday Night – Red Haired Strangers – 6-9PM – Music Video Here.  Gore Mt. has a Master Crafters show and sale scheduled for Sunday, August 15th, 10AM-4PM, more Info here!  Read on!

Weather – great for Rafting!

Weather ahead is looking great – hot and sunny!  Read much more weather and outdoor conditions on our Weather Page Here.  The Hudson is dropping – but still it is an awesome Summer Rafting Level.  Don’t forget – even more river fun – when the release gets to North River (2:00-2:30 or so) many outfitters are offering tubing, family rafting, and inflatable kayak trips.  Check with Adirondack Adventures, Beaver Brook Outfitters and ARO – Many of the Outfitters also have canoes for rent and use on nearby 13th Lake.  Outfitter contact Information CLICK HERE. 

Bikes and Hikes, Rev Rail, Glass Blowing, Gore Mt.

Well, the mt. bike trails at both The Ski Bowl and at Garnet Hill have finally dried out.  So, riding is quite good (although there are a few thunderstorms rolling around!).  Garnet Hill has a great collection of rental bikes and a few guided tours – See Garnet Hill Event Info Here.

Greg Tomb Glass Blowing is right down the street from the RevRail headquarters – so have a look!  Gore Mt. has 4 days of sky rides both chairlift and gondola rides (Gondola Thur/Sun; Chairlift Fri/Sat – subject to weather changes), hiking, downhill mt. biking (not for novices – no rentals available), disc golf, great lunches at the Open Pit Grill and this Sunday the Master Crafts Series 10AM-4PM – Area artisans and regional crafters will have homemade and hand-crafted items on display and for sale.

Arts, Dining and Entertainment

Art in North Creek, start with a stroll along the Mosaic Project right on Main Street.  Then visit our newest Gallery and Studio – H’art Gallery.  Take the Kids to the Farmer’s Market on for Kids Arts -Thursday 2PM-4PM.  This is also the last week for the Gallery Presentation at Tannery Pond – Rock – Paper – Paint.  Lots of Live Music – Becks Tavern and Music By The River are the highlights.  The North Creek area is chock full of great restaurants, cafes, food trucks! Rain, rain, go away – OK it has, this is it enjoy a week of mostly sun balls and temps in the 70s!!  Get Out There!  There is so much to do – Rafting on the Upper Hudson has never been better with unprecedented Summer water levels (Tue, Thur, Sat, Sun) – RevRail offers 2 spectacular Rail Biking trips along the Upper Hudson (daily operation), and Gore Mt. has your mountain sky ride fix with Chairlift and Gondola Rides Thursdays thru Sundays.  Mt. Bikers – the trails are finally drying out – Ski Bowl Park has a great collection of trails with a new connection trail to and from Becks.  It’s Waynestock Weekend coming up.  Click the Waynestock Pic for a Schedule.  Becks has great live music – a lot – check out the schedule here!

Weather For The Week!

Sun and Warmth – just what we expect from August!  Lots more weather information CLICK HERE!  Still, most flowing water is at higher than normal levels – be careful at swimming holes, boating on rivers and streams and tubing.  Hey, the tube is your boat – wear a life jacket! 

Hike, Bike, Raft

Hiking trails will still be muddy from recent rains, but most area hikes are in good shape.  Mt. Bike Trails at Both Garnet Hill and The Ski Bowl Park are in great shape. Visit our Hiking Guide for Area Trail suggestions

North Creek This Week, Ending July 25, 2021.  There is plenty to do in North Creek and the surrounding area this week!  Hopefully the rain will hold off for many outdoor events activities and attractions.  But if you need some indoor fun – discover our resident Glass Blower – Greg Tomb – more information here.  Also Tannery Pond Community Center has a slate of activities including a great play on Saturday night, Kids Art at the Farmer’s Market and a gallery show – scroll down for more information.  Also Support The Community Fund for the Gore Mountain Region (CFGMR) at a concert in Minerva featuring Dan Berggren, Saturday July 24, 4-6PM – more info below.  Lastly – don’t forget The North Creek Farmer’s Market on Thursday 2-6PM – More Farmer’s Market Info Here.

Weather

Well the rain has stopped – for now!  Enjoy any of these sunny, rain-free days that you can.  Hiking and mountain biking are a little muddy in spots, and many stream crossings are challenging – but conditions should dry out with a few good sunny days.  You would also want to USE CAUTION on any swimming trips that might have been impacted by the high water levels  The good news is that all this rain has produced a phenomenal river level for whitewater rafting on the Upper Hudson River.  Rafting is always fun – but this is Spring levels with Summer weather and warm water!  Get out there!  Here’s the weather for the week – and for more weather information visit our weather page.  Weather Page for more info CLICK HERE.

Rafting, Tubing, Canoes and Kayaks

This is as good as it gets!  Recent rains have swelled the Upper Hudson to Spring levels!  Enjoy one of the best raft trips in the East with high water and Summer weather – it doesn’t get much better!  Find your outfitter, get more information, watch a video.  Check with individual outfitters for tubing options.  Tubing is usually run from North River to North Creek when the dam release arrives in North River, afternoons – Tue, Thu, Sat and Sun.  But with the higher water other times may be possible.  For guided and unguided canoe and kayak rentals – check with Beaver Brook Outfitters – 518-251-3394.

Rev Rail, Gore Mt, Garnet Hill Outdoor Center

Rev Rail is kicking off its third season as the premier railbiking experience in North Creek, and is now offering two different trips – the South Run and a North Run, both along the Upper Hudson River.  Rev Rail is very popular!  So, make online reservations as soon as you can.  They do run rain or shine – so rain gear is a good idea (especially this summer!).  Who can go?  Just about anybody!  Check out the Rev Rail page here with links to their website.

Gore Mt. is off and running for their Summer Season with chairlift and gondola rides Thursday – Sunday.  Other activities include hiking, downhill mt. biking, disc golf and more.  July 22-25: Scenic skyrides are scheduled for the Northwoods Gondola on Thursday and Sunday, and aboard the Adirondack Express Chairlift on Friday and Saturday.  More Info on Gore’s Summer Operations CLICK HERE!

Garnet Hill Lodge is in full swing with Mountain Bike trails and rentals, guided hikes and Yoga Programs.  Yoga Programs are held Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  Call the Garnet Hill Outdoor Center (open daily 9-5) for more information 518-251-2150.  Outdoor Center information here.  Garnet Hill is also a Lodge and Restaurant and hosts a great Friday Happy Hour (5-7PM) This week at the Bobcat Cafe in the Outdoor Center – more information here.

North Creek This Week, July 18, 2021

Summer is here and there is something for everyone in North Creek!  Recent rains have jumped up the water level in the Hudson River making for spectacular Summer Rafting at Spring Levels!  And of course it is firefly season in the area – enjoy this magic of nature.  Read on – follow some links and have a great vacation or getaway!  Starting this weekend is Music by the River FREE Concert – Saturday, July 17, 6-9PM at Riverfront Park – awesome music by Maggie’s Clan (formerly called Hellcat Maggie).  Scroll down watch a video preview!  Also – find dining and entertainment options – Scroll Down!

Outdoor Fun – RevRail, Gore Mt., Hiking and Mt. Biking!

RevRail is again very popular this Summer (Operating Daily) and lots of visitors enjoying the new South Route!  RevRail is very popular and it is advisable to make reservations WELL in advance of your visit.  Reservations for RevRail can be made on their Website – CLICK HERE.  RevRail can be enjoyed by anyone – There is NO age minimum for RevRail.

Gore Mt. is open for Sky Rides Thursday thru Sunday.  On mountain activities include hiking, downhill Mountain biking, and disc golf.  In addition Gore hosts interpretive walks at select times.  Read more about Gore Mt and the complete Summer schedule here

Hiking is just about endless in the North Creek area!  We are the gateway to the 114,000 acre Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area.  Check out the Hiking Info below for short family hikes to all day adventures.  Mt.
