North Creek Summer 2018 – Local Weekly Events, Attractions, Whitewater, Hiking and Mt. Biking
North Creek and the Town of Johnsburg is a varied and rich Adirondack Summer Playground. Whitewater Rafting on the Upper Hudson River Gorge is frequently referred to as the “Best Single Day Rafting Trip In The East”. Granted Summer river levels are lower than the ice breaker Spring rafting trips, but warm water whitewater is soooooooo much nicer! And the minimum age drops for participants – with children as young as 8 able to enjoy the trip (check with specific outfitters). Trips are run all Summer long – Tuesday, Thuirsday, Saturday and Sundays. Scroll Down for the page link.
Ths snow if finally melting after a memorable ski season! The melting snow charges into brooks and streams and fuels the Upper Hudson River creating some of the best whitewater wilderness in The East! Numerous Rafting Outfitters ply the Hudson River Gorge, acclaimed as one of the best single-day raft trips in North America! Visit our Outfitter Page for more Information.
Early May is also time for one of the oldest Canoe and Kayak races in the United States – The Hudson River Whitewater Derby, now celebrating 61 years. The Derby is always held the first full weekend in May and features Slalom Racing on Saturday and a 7.5 mile Downriver Race on Sunday. Visit the Derby Website for all the latest information, spectator guide and racing registration forms.
