Another great snow weekend! Get out and enjoy the ride up ski down Backcountry Ski Shuttle! The shuttle will run both Sat. Feb 22, and Sunday, Feb 23. Meet at the North Creek Ski Bowl – Health Center Side – 11AM depart. Current conditions are powder and packed powder – there was 4-5″ of new snow since last weekend. Shuttle is for access to The Raymond Brook Ski Trail and Environs on Barton Road in North River. The Shuttle is scheduled for Sat. Feb 15, Sunday, Feb 16 and Monday, Feb. 17 – leaving the Ski Bowl at 11AM (Health Center Side). Current Ski Conditions, Thursday, Feb 13, 2020 Raymond Brook Ski Trail is ungroomed Backcountry skiing with powder and packed powder. Untracked snow will still have an ice crust down in the snow pack. There is better snow up high at the beginning of the trail – lower reaches will have more icy, granular snow mixed in.

Minimum number required: 2 skiers Equipment: There are uphill sections, nowax skis, grip wax or skins are required – NO BOOT PACKING.

Thanksgiving is the traditional start of ski season, but for 2019-2020 season, Gore has been open for a couple of weeks and Garnet Hill Lodge has has quite a few open days for cross country skiing already this Fall. Lights On – Tree Lighting and Candlelight Service – Friday, December 6, 2019 at 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM For over 25 years this event has brought the community together to “Kick Off” the holiday & winter season. All businesses are encouraged to decorate with white lights, natural greenery and red bows to create a unified theme. Lights On refers to the Friday Night 5pm hour when everyone turns their lights on to start the season December 6th. The celebration of our winter season begins with celebration. With local pastors & Mrs. Clause. Caroling lead by Katy Cole and the Johnsburg Central School Pop Singers. Elected officials will say a few words of welcome. Note: The Depot Museum will have the Owens House available as a warming hut should the need arrive.
Friday, December 6, 2019 at 7 PM – 8:30 PM Bring the children to Tannery Pond following the Tree Lighting to visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause and share your Christmas Wishes. Area restaurants and local bakers have offered to donate finger foods and sweets for the attendees. If you would like to donate, please contact Jane Peters at Basil and Wicks Restaurant. Santa will have small gifts for each boy and girl attending. This is a great photo-op of your children with the lovable Santa and his dear Mrs. Clause. All are welcome from surrounding communities.
Light Up Parade – Friday, December 6, 2019 at 6:30 PM – 7 PM North Creek Depot Museum under the direction of Ellen Shaffer to escort carolers and Mrs C from Tree Lighting to Tannery Pond Community Center. Everyone welcome to light up a float and be part of this new caravan. Lets see if we can grow this evening display along Main Street.
Lights On Johnsburg Christmas Parade! Floats will leave Johnsburg Central School and the North Creek Fire House parking lot at 12 noon, and travel down Main Street ending at the Town of Johnsburg Highway Garage. Parade participants are encouraged to visit the ElderWood Nursing and Rehab Center on Route 28 in costume for the joy of the residents. Parade participants Santa and Mrs. Clause will also visit nursing home residents at the end of the parade. Businesses on Main street offer refreshments to parade participants following the event. Find Christmas tree sales, wine samplings, chocolate offerings, hot mulled cider, cookies for everyone. We encourage you, your family and friends to join us in this (free Parade) If you or your organization is interested in being part of the community Christmas parade, feel free to simply show up Saturday at 11:30 and we’ll put you in line. December 7, 7:00 pm | December 8, 2:00 pm North Country Singers, under the direction of Denise Conti, present their annual Holiday Celebration. A festive reception will follow the performance.
Special guests include singer Caroline Williams, opera singer Christine Powers, storyteller Robin Jay, the JCS Pop Singers under the direction of Katy Cole (on Saturday), the JCS Jazz Band under the direction of Max Garrett (on Saturday), the Guiding Steps North Dancers under the direction of Krystal Koopman (on Sunday) and the Newcomb Central School Bell Tree Ensemble (on Sunday).
Monetary donations will be gratefully accepted to benefit the Adirondack Community Outreach Center and the North Country Singers.
Join us for Happy Hour and the Adirondack Exposure Calendar Party! 4-7PM at Garnet Hill’s Log House Pub – $3 draft beer or wine and Oysters on The Half Shell $1 each.

The local North Creek Shuttle needs your help! This shuttle bus service is provided Free of Charge by The North Creek Business Alliance with regular scheduled runs during the ski season and during other events in the area. The Business Alliance was recently awarded Warren Country Occupancy Tax funding for a 3 year lease of a new shuttle, but a second shuttle is always required for busy days and as backup for the main shuttle. The Save our Shuttle Raffle is a fund raising effort to purchase a second shuttle to continue this vital program for the Town of Johnsburg.

Snowmelt combines with Spring rains to jump up the flows of the Hudson to Class IV levels. It’s a thrill a minute in big water as rafters negotiate rapids like Blue Ledge, The Narrows, Big Nasty and more! Spring trips begin in early April and are run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with most trips falling on the weekend days.

Backcountry Ski Shuttle is On for Saturday, April 6th. Shuttle is to Barton Road and the pick-up location is at Beck’s Bar (Peacful Valley Road, on the way to Gore) at 10:30AM, also a pick-up at the Ski Bowl (health center side) at 10:45 AM.
