North Creek – Late Fall and Prelude to Winter!

It won’t be long – Autumn colors will soon give way to winter white!  There is still plenty of time to enjoy late fall colors.  Get out and hike around, paddle on 13th Lake or enjoy some of the mountain biking trails at Garnet Hill or The Ski Bowl.  Ski season can begin anytime in November but Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 25-28, 2021) is usually the start of ski season. So, now is the time to plan your ski getaways, North Creek area winter vacations.

Late Fall Hike, Bike, Fishing

As more and more of the trees drop their leaves the annual dormancy sets up.   Trails becoming muddier, but the lack of leaves opens vistas that are usually obscured in the Summer.  It’s a great time to explore the area!  Look on our Hiking Guide for additional information.  Also – it is Big Game Hunting Season in the Adirondacks Oct. 23 – Dec. 5, 2021.  While accidents involving non hunters are very rare it’s a good idea to wear bright colors if you’re out hiking.  Mt. Bike trails can get challenging with leaf drop obscuring obstacles, but some trails at both Garnet Hill and the Ski Bowl have been cleared for Fall Mt. Biking.  Fishing Season is mostly closed but 13th Lake (and downstream outlet to 1st Bridge) remains open ’till Nov. 30 and the Hudson River and other streams have a new regulation that lets you fish Oct. 16 – March 31, artificial lures and catch and release only.
