Backcountry Ski Shuttle is on for President’s Weekend 2020!
Shuttle is for access to The Raymond Brook Ski Trail and Environs on Barton Road in North River. The Shuttle is scheduled for Sat. Feb 15, Sunday, Feb 16 and Monday, Feb. 17 – leaving the Ski Bowl at 11AM (Health Center Side). Current Ski Conditions, Thursday, Feb 13, 2020 Raymond Brook Ski Trail is ungroomed Backcountry skiing with powder and packed powder. Untracked snow will still have an ice crust down in the snow pack. There is better snow up high at the beginning of the trail – lower reaches will have more icy, granular snow mixed in.

Thanksgiving is the traditional start of ski season, but for 2019-2020 season, Gore has been open for a couple of weeks and Garnet Hill Lodge has has quite a few open days for cross country skiing already this Fall. Tree Lighting, Visit with Santa and Light Up Parade, Fri. Dec 6!
Lights On – Tree Lighting and Candlelight Service – Friday, December 6, 2019 at 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM For over 25 years this event has brought the community together to “Kick Off” the holiday & winter season. All businesses are encouraged to decorate with white lights, natural greenery and red bows to create a unified theme. Lights On refers to the Friday Night 5pm hour when everyone turns their lights on to start the season December 6th. The celebration of our winter season begins with celebration. With local pastors & Mrs. Clause. Caroling lead by Katy Cole and the Johnsburg Central School Pop Singers. Elected officials will say a few words of welcome. Note: The Depot Museum will have the Owens House available as a warming hut should the need arrive.
Friday, December 6, 2019 at 7 PM – 8:30 PMBring the children to Tannery Pond following the Tree Lighting to visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause and share your Christmas Wishes. Area restaurants and local bakers have offered to donate finger foods and sweets for the attendees. If you would like to donate, please contact Jane Peters at Basil and Wicks Restaurant. Santa will have small gifts for each boy and girl attending. This is a great photo-op of your children with the lovable Santa and his dear Mrs. Clause. All are welcome from surrounding communities.
Light Up Parade – Friday, December 6, 2019 at 6:30 PM – 7 PM North Creek Depot Museum under the direction of Ellen Shaffer to escort carolers and Mrs C from Tree Lighting to Tannery Pond Community Center. Everyone welcome to light up a float and be part of this new caravan. Lets see if we can grow this evening display along Main Street.

Lights On Johnsburg Christmas Parade!Floats will leave Johnsburg Central School and the North Creek Fire House parking lot at 12 noon, and travel down Main Street ending at the Town of Johnsburg Highway Garage. Parade participants are encouraged to visit the ElderWood Nursing and Rehab Center on Route 28 in costume for the joy of the residents. Parade participants Santa and Mrs. Clause will also visit nursing home residents at the end of the parade. Businesses on Main street offer refreshments to parade participants following the event. Find Christmas tree sales, wine samplings, chocolate offerings, hot mulled cider, cookies for everyone. We encourage you, your family and friends to join us in this (free Parade) If you or your organization is interested in being part of the community Christmas parade, feel free to simply show up Saturday at 11:30 and we’ll put you in line. The North Creek Shuttle Bus Service Needs Your Help!
The local North Creek Shuttle needs your help! This shuttle bus service is provided Free of Charge by The North Creek Business Alliance with regular scheduled runs during the ski season and during other events in the area. The Business Alliance was recently awarded Warren Country Occupancy Tax funding for a 3 year lease of a new shuttle, but a second shuttle is always required for busy days and as backup for the main shuttle. The Save our Shuttle Raffle is a fund raising effort to purchase a second shuttle to continue this vital program for the Town of Johnsburg. And hey, couldn’t you really use an extra $5K, or $3K, or a grand!
