125th Anniversary Parade TR Presidency
Event Details
Everyone loves a parade, and the 125th anniversary of Theodore Roosevelt’s dramatic ascent to the presidency is the perfect opportunity to have a big one!
We hope you’ll join us in North Creek on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, for a Community Parade and special program commemorating TR’s historic “Night Ride to the Presidency,” which ended at the North Creek train depot.
The parade, which starts at 2:30 PM at the North Creek Fire Department, will proceed down Main Street and end at the Depot platform at 4 PM. The program on the platform will feature patriotic music, light refreshments, and a stirring retelling of the Night Ride by celebrated TR reprisor Joe Wiegand. Descendants of the men who drove Roosevelt (and their horses) through the Adirondack wilderness at record-breaking speed will also be on hand, along with local dignitaries.
Community organizations, businesses, schools, civic groups, historical societies, veterans’ organizations, musical groups, antique vehicle owners, and individuals are welcome to participate in the parade. Let’s fill Main Street with history, community spirit, and Roosevelt’s adventurous legacy!
