A joyful celebration of life, the dance has its origins in the 8th century when Walpurgis Night was held on the eve of the feast day of Saint Walpurga.
In the southern Adirondacks, these women from Johnsburg, Wevertown, North River, Indian Lake have partnered with Gem Radio Theater of Johnsburg to present the dance.
They are to hold their premiere performances at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in North Creek’s Riverfront Park. and then at 3 p.m. the same day In Indian Lake during the Great Adirondack Moose Festival. This latter presentation is to be held under a tent at the former Tops grocery parking lot at the intersection of 28 and 30.
