Summer 2024~ New Creative Classes at H’ART

Wednesday Watercolors
For beginner and intermediate artists~ Join Kate Hartley, an art instructor with 40+ years of teaching experience. Each class is a single drawing and painting lesson (or work on a continuing painting of your choosing).
Wednesdays, 6-8 pm
July 10, Aug 7– lake scenes, and continuing paintings
July 17, Aug 14- Adk still life, continuing paintings
July 24, Aug 21 – flowers, and continuing paintings
July 31, Aug 28– forests and landscapes, continuing paintings
Fee: $25/class ~ for adult/teen artists, plus $5 materials or byo supplies

Clay Handbuilding with Kate Hartley
We’ll make free-standing slab boxes, (countertop organizers), or slab mugs, wall pieces and ornaments… choose from several of Kim’s beautiful (food-safe) glazes! We’ll meet in Sept to celebrate and to pick up our finished pottery.
Thursdays, 3:30-5, July 18, 25, Aug 15, 22
Who: teens and adults (and children 9 -12, with their favorite adult)
Fee: $25 per class, $50/class for a team of 2, includes materials

Special Clay Class: “Folded Friends” Clay Animal Portraits with guest artist Janice Reissig
Using slab rolled clay, we’ll create an animal shape and fold it into an amazing portrait. (Check out her portrait of Ember, the H’ART Studio pup!)… glazing will happen in early Sept. (creations can be mailed)
When: Tues., July 23, 5-8 pm  Who: adults and children age 10+, class size is limited  Fee: $65, ($120 for a team of 2)

Beading Jewelry Sets with Sharon Barr
Jewelry sets: “The only thing that separates us from animals is our ability to accessorize”. Steel Magnolias got it right. Accessorize your wardrobe!  In this class you will use simple beading techniques to create an earring and necklace or necklace and bracelet set, using wooden and glass beads. No experience with beading necessary. $40 per person, includes all materials. When: Fri, Aug. 9, 7-8:30 pm

Mosaic Tabletops Weekend Workshop
Come create a tabletop! Decorate your own piece of furniture, board/glass tabletop or yard sale find that needs sprucing up, or bring dimensions of a tabletop you’d like to make of plywood, and enjoy a weekend of group creativity!
When: Aug 16-18: Fri 5-7, Sat 1-6, Sun 10-1
Who: Adults, couples, families! (space is limited to 10 projects)
Fee: $220 per person, includes tools and tiles (plywood extra)

Summer Saturdays ~ One-Day Art Workshops
Open to all ages (kids under 10 must come with an adult). Finish a mosaic or watercolor project to take home in just one class – (You can come back at 5 to grout your mosaics, or Kate will send you off with materials and instructions for finishing at home). We’ll use a variety of inspiring materials to create unique treasures!

Ongoing…Open Studio ~ Mosaics and Needle Felting!
If you’ve seen the North Creek Mosaic Project and been inspired, this class is for you! You’ll explore this ancient art form through creating your own mosaic house numbers, boxes, trays or stepping stones… We also have Needle Felting materials (google it and get inspired!), so Open Studio participants can try out either art form!!!

When: on Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:30 p.m., ongoing, join any time, come when you can!  Who:  Adults and Teens, beginner to intermediate.  What to bring: just yourself, a snack and beverage.  Fee: $20 per class, includes most materials, a variety of mosaic bases available, some at cost, or bring your own!
