Wednesday Watercolorsfor Beginner and Intermediate Artists

Whether you’ve recently taken up watercolors, or have been painting for years, it’s always great to learn from each other. Kate Hartley will lead some short group lessons each week, followed by time to work on paintings of your own choosing. Each class will begin with a 15 minute drawing lesson, followed by still life, landscapes, and even “portraits” of our favorite animals… come to any sessions, or all 6 weeks!

When: Wednesdays, 6-8 pm, May 22 – June 26  |  Who: adults, and ages 10 and up  |  Fee: $125 for all 6 weeks, or $25 per class ~pay when you can come! (plus $25 material fee… or bring your own supplies!)

Exciting New Guest Artist Class – Reduction Method Linoleum Block Printing Workshop with Diane Castle Babcock
When: Saturday, June 8, 12:30- 4:30 pm
This is a four-hour hands-on workshop in reduction method linoleum block printing. Students will create a three-color linoleum block print from one piece of linoleum.
Diane will demonstrate each step of the process, then facilitate students’ work. By the end of the workshop the students will have a working knowledge of proper cutting and inking techniques, including rainbow roll printing, color registration, and color mixing.
Diane will provide everything you need to complete the project, including drawing materials, the linoleum, paper, ink and printmaking tools. Students will choose between two landscape images: a moonlight scene or a white birch tree near an Adirondack lake. Students will have the opportunity to modify these basic sketches to create unique works of art. Students will have the opportunity to modify these basic sketches to create unique works of art. The block will be approximately 4 x 6 inches and each student will be given six sheets of paper, with the expectation that they will have two to three good quality prints at the end of the workshop.
The cost of this workshop is $95. This includes the cost of tools and materials.

Studio Saturdays for all ages:  3-4:30 pm each Saturday (continuing throughout the summer!)
Join Kate to create small masterpieces… and go home with a finished piece of artwork! $25 per person, materials provided. (Ages 8 and under, bring your favorite adult!)

Ongoing…Open Studio ~ Mosaics and Needle Felting!
If you’ve seen the North Creek Mosaic Project and been inspired, this class
is for you! You’ll explore this ancient art form through creating your own mosaic house numbers, boxes, trays or stepping stones…
We also have Needle Felting materials (google it and get inspired!), so Open Studio participants can try out either art form!!!

When: on Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:30 p.m., ongoing, join any time, come when you can!  Who: Adults and Teens, beginner to intermediate.  What to bring: just yourself, a snack and beverage.  Fee: $15 per class, includes most materials, a variety of mosaic bases available, some at cost, or bring your own!

Art Adventures at the Ski Bowl Park, for families and for all ages.  Every other Friday evening, 5-7 at the Beach Pavilion, free!
Friday, June 28, 5-7 pm Art Adventures at Ski Bowl Park: Drawing and Painting Trees ~
We’ll begin by looking at a few examples of amazing trees in art – from Mondrian to Homer. A quick demo of 3 different mediums – pencil, ink and acrylics. Each participant will choose a medium to begin their tree studies, and will gather supplies and fan out into the picnic area of the park, where beautiful examples of pine, spruce, maple and birch await! Easels will be provided for those who’d like a turn at standing, and tarps for those who prefer sitting. Kate and a helper will circulate to give encouragement and guidance. The Adventure will end with the group gathering again at the pavilion for a “group critique and art show”, where we’ll admire our creations and snap a group photo! Register with Kate!
