Camping – Primitive Camping 13th Lake and Garnet Lake

Camping in the North Creek Area is blessed with a 114,000 acre state designated wilderness area called The Siamese Ponds Wilderness.  Wilderness is the strictest land use regulation in the Adirondack Park with a blanket prohibition on motorized use of any kind.  There is however over 75 miles of marked trails lots of backcountry ponds, lean-to camps and primitive campsites.  13th Lake is the gateway to the area and has 11 campsites on it’s shores.  The 2 campsites at the parking area off Beach Road are quite popular especially on weekends.  All camping is first come, first served.  No reservations are allowed. The 13th Lake camping is not true “automobile camping” but the state of NY administers a large number of automobile campsites in the Adirondack Park – the closest ones to North Creek are Lake Durant and Lewey Lake to the North and Lake George area campsites to the South.  See the complete list – interactive guide here.

Disc Golf at Garnet Hill!

Play Disc Golf at Garnet Hill!
We brought disc golf to Garnet Hill! Check out our new 9-hole disc golf course. Our wooded disc golf course offers a variety of fairways that are fun for all, yet suitably challenging for experienced players. The course will begin outside the Garnet Hill Outdoor Center, travel toward the trails around the Log House, and then finish back at the Outdoor Center.

The course includes multiple target positions to cater to players of different ability levels, and we use trees, bushes, and elevation to make each hole challenging and unique. Use of the course is complimentary if you have your own disc – for overnight guests and local residents. Discs are available for rent or purchase at the Outdoor Center. We will charge a $30 disc rental fee which includes 1 putter, 1 midrange, and 1 driver. You have the option of keeping or buying all three discs for $30, or if you choose to rent and return after your round, we will refund you $15.

A Community Wide Art Participation Program!

Kate Hartley and son Clayton

The North Creek Mosaic Project

Artist Kate Hartley saw the large concrete wall on Main Street in North Creek as the perfect canvas for a very unique, very large-scale art project. Fast forward to today, and slowly, but surely, beautifully colored tiles and stones are advancing down Main Street in North Creek. They’re taking the shape of a raging river, tree-covered mountains, and a shining sun, highlighting the activities that make the region special, like whitewater rafting, skiing, and fishing. What was once a 180-foot stretch of bland, concrete wall is being transformed into “one of the largest pieces of public art in the North Country” thanks to the efforts and vision of Hartley and over 700 volunteers.

Revolution Rail – Rail Bike Tours – 2 Trips in North Creek!

Revolution Rail - Rail Bike ToursWhat is Railbiking?
Railbiking with Revolution Rail Co. is a fun excursion activity that allows riders to ride the railroad tracks under their own power and explore a section of the Adirondacks that has never seen passenger traffic.
Once railbikers check in at the historic North Creek Railroad Station, they’ll take a short shuttle ride 5 miles north of town to the tour launch point. After a short safety briefing, the tour guides will lead the railbikers further north on a 6 mile round trip cruise.

New, the South River Run takes riders south right out of the North Creek Railroad Station for a 9 mile out-and-back trip. Riders on the South River Run enjoy varied rolling terrain, hug the Hudson River shoreline for large sections of the ride, and enjoy a number of incredible vistas of the Hudson River.
Additional trips in Thurman/Stony Creek and Hadley – info on the website, link below.
